He got exactly what he deserved. Too bad somebody else had to die and another injured for this selfish POS. Anybody who mourns Howard w/o thinking of his actions and the other victims is completely unaware that this man essentially wrote his own ticket to hell. Too bad for the other guy. I thought the Cobalt SS also sucked until I read that Can & Driver lighting lap & it had the same time as the Lancer Evolution (My dream car). But I could still never really see myself getting into a Cobalt SS. Bias I guess. I still preferred a rally machine even though the Cobalt was technically a better value. I never had a problem w/ Border Patrol here in SoCal until they treated me like a criminal. Agent McCormick was his name and the treatment I received from him was degrading and humiliating. Of course, I had no drugs and I am an American citizen. I went to my Representative and the Border Patrol Supervisor, but to no… » 8/02/13 1:57pm 8/02/13 1:57pm

If all these new cars are using electric steering to save fuel economy than great. But if they are using it because people like it, then they are headed in the wrong direction. The switch to digital was cool, but quickly wore out. Look at all the hipsters/millenials, they do not like CDs or even MP3s. They like analog… » 8/02/13 1:15pm 8/02/13 1:15pm

Good article, but there is a major flaw you are missing. Craigslist likes to green list or "ghost" many postings. The way it does is by searching for key words where the computer thinks it is a scam. I remember trying to sell my first car and I was always green listed, meaning it tells me I successfully posted but I… » 7/19/13 3:39pm 7/19/13 3:39pm

As always great post, I bought an E46 M3 w/ a warranty from Carmax 3 years ago. I have always been skeptical of insurance/warranties and always assumed it is a sucker's bet. I did purchase the warranty w/ $1000 deductible, so basically I'm covered for the powertrain. I wish I would have purchased the lowest deductible… » 7/17/13 3:21pm 7/17/13 3:21pm

Hey Doug, another great article. I am with you on the torque. I don't like it but the masses do. I am OK w/ automakers using it for their pedestrian cars. But when I want a sports car, please make it high end so I or people w/ more money than brains don't kill ourselves. I really hate how automakers are moving towards… » 7/16/13 12:19pm 7/16/13 12:19pm

I researched the RS6 cause I love the "RS"series and an "S" just isn't hardcore enough. I was surprised to see the price of the 03 RS6 was in levels I could afford. The more research I did the scarier the prospect of owning one became. Basically the transmission is problematic and super expensive to fix if something went… » 7/12/13 7:56pm 7/12/13 7:56pm

I'm kind of skeptical of this one appreciating. I believe people will seek or save up for the Boss 302 instead of the Bullitt. I really liked the MACH 1 Mustang and thought those would depreciate slower and then have an uptick, but they didn't. The Mustangs being so common I can't see this one getting more expensive,… » 6/28/13 6:01pm 6/28/13 6:01pm

I agree. Douches lease M3 because it can be relatively affordable and no maintenance costs. Most of them were $30k millionaires. They like performance even though they don't know anything about the car. Chicks dig it. M3s are mainly douches driving it or old guys who know about the car and can actually afford it.

I, too, miss the old Honda. The B series engines were the greatest. The 99-00 Civic Si was the best sport compact performance you could buy. The Acura Integra Type R is the best handling FWD car with a screamer of an engine. Why has Honda gone soft? Their new Civic Si is so bland I would never consider it. Somebody… » 6/18/13 1:32pm 6/18/13 1:32pm

Great piece. I love Deadspin because they do not protect athletes like the old sports writers of the day. The writers are accessories to the steroid era. Sportswriters like Verducci always protected athletes like Clemens. There are tons of athletes who were built up to this myth who sportswriters had to know were… » 1/04/13 4:13pm 1/04/13 4:13pm

I am so jealous that celebrities always get off with a warning when they are the ones that easily pay off any ticket. I do not know if Kanye has a history of driving recklessly like Bieber, but I hate when law enforcement tickets regular Joe schmoes and lets off celebrities. Just like Patrick, I have never been given a … » 1/04/13 1:49pm 1/04/13 1:49pm
